
Morgan McCullin of Clay, LA is the Jackson Parish Library Artist of the Month for the month of March. Her artwork as well as all others who participated in the contest is on display at the Jonesboro Branch. McCullin graduated from Quitman High School and has a Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Art from Louisiana Tech University where she is working to earning her Master’s. Utilizing primarily oils and gouache McCullin focuses her art on female portraiture. She was recently published in Creative Quarterly 59 and was included in the Femme Fest at the Jazz and Heritage Gallery in New Orleans.

GRAB-N-GO!
The JPL is pleased to announce two Easter holiday themed, grab-n-go offers for adults. There is a wine glass shaped, candle holders painted like bunnies while both children and adults alike can pick up a “How to paint Easter eggs” package. You must call ahead to secure a grab-n-go package as supplies are limited.

SNAP and Unemployment Assistance! Ms. Tyanne Williams, Client Services Manager for the Pine Belt Multi-Purpose Community Action Agency will be available for consultation by appointment only from 10:00am – 2:00pm on Wednesday, April 6th. Topics include SNAP and social security benefits, unemployment assistance, Medicare/Medicaid enrollment, social security card applications, commodities and senior food boxes
CHILDREN PROGRAMS FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL
ART CLASSES once again be held at both branches over the next two weeks beginning on Monday, April 5th and running through Thursday, April 15th. Classes will run from 4:00-5:00 pm on Tuesday and Thursday at the Jonesboro Branch on Monday’s from 4:00-5:00pm at the Chatham Branch. SIGN UP FOR STEAM: Registration has begun for children (Pre-K – 3rd grade) art classes for the month of May that will be centered around the exciting and educational STEAM program. This wonderfully, unique program features fun projects in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Pick-up packages will be available during Art Class hours that are shown above for each branch.
READING EGGS AND MATH SEEDS: Due to the popularity and response received in March this “in-home” program for Pre-K – 7th grade children is continuing through the month of April. If interested in having your child participate please call Ms. Terrye Shackleford at (318) 259-5697.
