God’s Cleansing

I’m a mother, grandmother (and great grandmother). Maybe you haven’t experienced parenting but have cared for young children. Care includes feeding, bathing and dressing. Personally, I cherish the memories. They needed me; I met their needs. My mind is now focused on the bathing experience.

At first, I gave the children sponge baths. I remember how well the babies rested after getting fed, washed and dressed. Soon, bath time was play time with sudsy water and rubber duckies. It wasn’t long before the children progressed to baths with little supervision. I saw the finished product. They were clean.

God has many children.

Sin makes them dirty; He wants to make us all clean.

King David had committed sin. He needed God’s cleansing.

“Be gracious to me, God, according to Your faithfulness;
According to the greatness of Your compassion, wipe out my wrongdoings.
Wash me thoroughly from my guilt
And cleanse me from my sin.
For I know my wrongdoings,
And my sin is constantly before me.
Against You, You only, I have sinned
And done what is evil in Your sight,
So that You are justified when You speak
And blameless when You judge (Psalm 51:1-4 NASB).”

We have all sinned. (Romans 3:23)

In mercy, the LORD cleanses us of sin.

“If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:8-9 NASB).”
