Jackson Parish Ambulance Service District Employee Spotlight: Mary Hogue

Mary was born and raised in Jackson Parish. As a lifelong resident she has always had a desire to serve her community and to pursue a career in health care. She began working for the Jackson Parish Ambulance Service District (JPASD) in 1999 as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and has since then pursued careers in various healthcare fields, such as Phlebotomy, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and has earned an associate degree in Respiratory Therapy. However, Mary’s passion lies in Emergency Medicine. Deciding to advance her EMS career, she became an NREMT-Paramedic in 2011.

Throughout her 24 years of employment, she has served her community and state diligently by providing exceptional care for her patients, as well as, serving on the JPASD Strike Team where she has provided coverage and been deployed on numerous natural disasters. In 2023, Mary responded to 516 calls for people in need of help. 

Mary and her husband Junior have been married for 38 years. Together they share three children: Shandala, Laura and Trey. They have seven grandchildren, (which she refers to them all “as her world”. 

Although Mary has only three children of her own, a multitude of Jackson Parish children have grown up in the Hogue household and refer to her as “Momma Mary” as she has always been known for her gracious hospitality shown to anyone who came through her door. 

During her spare time, Mary enjoys her days relaxing out in the pontoon, fishing with her family. She is an exceptional cook and whenever she has time she loved to dabble in crafting, crocheting and embroidering
