The Jackson Parish School District is pleased to introduce Mrs. Krista Jones and Mr. Dean Herbst as Assistant Principals at Weston High School for the 2024-25 school year. Mrs. Jones will be the Junior and High School assistant principal while Mr. Herbst will be handling elementary assistant principal duties.
Mrs. Krista Jones
A 2005 graduate of La Tech University, Krista has been employed at West Monroe High School since 2010 as a high school social studies teacher, assistant testing coordinator and CTE teacher. She completed her Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration degree from La Tech in 2021. Krista has also served as a mentor teacher and a teacher leader. From 1997-2003, Krista served in the Louisiana Army National Guard as a supply clerk. Krista brings strong leadership and organizational skills along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to Weston High School. The ability to adapt and the flexibility to meet the changing needs and demands of the modern classroom to achieve set educational goals are some of the skills Krista will incorporate.
Mr. Dean Herbst
With a Masters in Education degree from Sam Houston State University earned in 2002, Dean recently retired after 32 years of service in the Texas public education system, mostly working in the Humble Independent School district. While working in Texas, Dean was the district Director of Management and Safety, assistant principal and instructional coach at Kingwood High School, as well as a teacher and a coach of many sports. After retirement, Dean moved to Chatham and has recently been employed by Grambling State University as Director of Safety and Risk Management. Dean will bring his unique perspective from which to work with multifaceted groups to help achieve student success.
