Edgerton “Bubba” Lewis Henry
February 10, 1936 – April 23, 2025

Edgerton “Bubba” Lewis Henry of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. The former House Speaker who oversaw the writing of the new Louisiana Constitution, E.L. “Bubba” Henry, died Wednesday, The Advocate reported. He was 89.

Henry, who was raised and resided in Jonesboro, LA for most of his life was elected into the House of Representatives in 1968 and was the Speaker from 1972 until 1980. Henry was the leader of the “Young Turks,” a group of younger state representatives who pushed for reducing the number of state employees and wanted government spending cuts. He ran for governor in 1979 but lost to Dave Treen. He was Treen’s Commissioner of Administration until 1984. In 2012, Henry was inducted into the Louisiana Political Museum and Hall of Fame.

A visitation for Bubba was held on Friday, April 25, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, with the Funeral Service taking place on Saturday, April 26 at Broadmoor Baptist Church.

Stacy (Casper) Martin
August 10, 1974 – April 25, 2025


Stacy Lynn Martin, age 50, of Jonesboro, Louisiana, passed away at her residence on April 25, 2025. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Stacy loved to paint her granddaughters’ fingernails. She enjoyed listening to mellow Rock and Country music and she also liked to watch TV, especially horror movies. Stacy loved life and having fun. Being outdoors was also special to her and she liked to ride 4-wheelers when she got the chance.

Stacy is survived by her husband, John Grimm; children, Krysten Smith (Chris Sellers), Kenneth Martin III, Katina Harrell, Brittnie Grimm and Patrick Grimm; 3 beautiful granddaughters; 5 handsome grandsons; and sister, Bonita Casper.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Casper; mother, Carrie (Deese) Casper; grandmother, Alma Kirkham; brothers, Tommy Lowe, Timothy Casper; and her first husband.

As per Stacy’s wishes, she will be cremated and the family will have a private memorial at a later date.

Bobby Wayne Huckaby
July 5, 1946 – April 23, 2025

Bobby Wayne Huckaby, age 78 of Jonesboro, ascended from his Earthly home to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

Bobby was born July 5, 1946, to Cortez and Alta Conn Huckaby. Bobby is a 1964 graduate of Jonesboro-Hodge High School. He enlisted in the United States Marines in January 1966 and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Gray’s paper mill in Springdale, Arkansas. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening in his spare time. He loved his family dearly and loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. He loved watching his grandchildren play ball.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Tommy Jean Rushing Gatlin Huckaby; children, Lance Huckaby and Devie, Craig Huckaby and Alayna. His two grandchildren, Holden Huckaby and Karley Huckaby all of Quitman. Two stepchildren, Sonya Gatlin Freeman and Scott of Ruston, Steve Gatlin and Emily of Choudrant; three step grandchildren, Amberly and Alli Freeman and Hadley Gatlin and three step great-grandchildren, Roslyn, Madelynn and Whitlynn.

Bobby was preceded in death by his former wife, Susan Lowe Huckaby, and his parents, Cortez and Alta Conn Huckaby.

A Memorial service was held at Jonesboro Assembly of God Church on Sunday, April 27, with Bro. Bubba Walsworth and Bro. Lance Huckaby officiating.

The family has requested donations be given in Bobby’s memory to St. Jude’s or to the church.
