
The Water Boil Advisory that has been in place since Monday, January 19th, for the Town of Jonesboro water system consumers east of Leon Drive in Jonesboro has been rescinded, and the drinking water is safe for consumption.
At 2:10 pm on Friday, January 23rd, Jonesboro Mayor James “Spike” Harris issued the following statement.
The boil advisory that had been put in place has been lifted after we received notice from the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) – Office of Public Health (OPH) that water samples collected sumbitted for testing were proven to be safe. We thank our residents for their patience and understanding of our efforts to ensure the safety of the drinking water supply.
The boil advisory had been put in place after a six-inch water main on Holley Drive in Jonesboro had ruptured on Monday, January 19th. The Town of Jonesboro Water Department quickly repaired the breakage, but as a precaution, samples were immediately sent to LDH-OPH to determine if there was a problem with possible problem in microbiological quality.
