Cornerstone Christian Academy completes first season of varsity athletic competition

A milestone was set recently when Cornerstone Christian Academy, located at the Full Gospel Temple off of Walker Road in Jonesboro, concluded their very first season of varsity athletic competition. The Eagles fielded boys basketball and co-ed volleyball teams this spring in the SLICE league, which stands for the Sports League of Independent Christian Educators.

The boys basketball team was comprised of Assistant Coach David Broadway, Camden Womack, Jody Smith, Tucker Sneed (Sr),  Kaden McNaughton, Bradyn Stevenson, Head Coach Matt Whitman, Assistant Coach Dusty McNaughton,  Dane Stevenson, Brock Henderson, Parker Broadway, Ryston McNaughton and Conner Ebert.

Members of the CCA co-ed volleyball team were Lilith Gil, Josie Sneed, Camden Womack, Tucker Sneed (Sr), Kaden McNaugton, Jody Smith, Brock Henderson, Harley Grillette, Conner Ebert, Parker Broadway, Brinley Lonadier, Kaitlyn Edmonds and Layla Smith (Sr.) Coaches were David & Shasta Broadway.

The Sports League for Independent Christian Educators (SLICE), is a private sports league specifically tailored to small, faith-based educators in Louisiana and Texas. As of the 2020-21athletic season, SLICE is currently made up of an additional seven member institutions: Bethel Christian Academy, Center Academy, Hope Baptist School, Kingston Christian Academy, the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, Northside Christian Academy, and Provencal Christian Academy.
