Jackson Parish Schools to begin on August 18th

On Wednesday, August 18th, the first day of the 2021-22 school year will begin for students in Jackson Parish.  This comes prior to two days of Professional Development for Faculty and Staff that will take place on Monday, August 16th and Tuesday, August 17th.

“We are excited to have our students back on campus for the new school year,” said Jackson Parish School Superintendent David Claxton. “As we are still dealing with variations of the Coronavirus we recommend that parents to everything they can to protect their children including following recommended guidelines.”

School officials are looking forward to continuing the progress made during the pandemic of the past year and a half. While every other school system in the state performed worse in LEAP tests this past year, Jackson Parish Schools was the only one who actually showed improvement over the previous testing period.

As a reminder, under Federal guidelines and requirements if a student is being transported on a bus it is required that a mask be worn.
