Class AA, first team All-State defensive back, Devontae Mozee from Jonesboro-Hodge has committed to play football for Louisiana Tech University. The announcement was made via a tweet by Mozee on Sunday, January 30th.
It is still to be determined how well new Louisiana Tech head football coach can lead a team on the field but one thing that is now known is that he is certainly a top recruiter. This was proven when Cumbie coaxed Mozee to choose to play for Tech over the University of Missouri of the Southeastern Conference.
Mozee had just returned from an official visit to the MIZZOU campus this past Saturday where he received a scholarship offer to play for the SEC school. Upon returning to Jonesboro, he was then contacted by Cumbie, who asked Mozee to visit on Sunday.
The versatile athlete, who set single season receiving records and scored four touchdowns from his defensive back position, made the short trip to Ruston and published a “tweet” a few hours later. Dressed in La Tech gear and having the word COMMITTED alongside, Mozee announced his intentions to sign with the Bulldogs, adding the statement of “Let’s make state happy!”
“It’s close to home,” Mozee told Ben Carlisle of BleedTechBlue.com on why he chose Tech. “The coaches at Tech are family. I’m excited to get in there and compete.”
The 6’2″, 175 pounder is the 6th commitment Cumbie and La. Tech has secured in the 2022 recruiting cycle and is expected to play cornerback for the Bulldogs.
Javeon Andrews has visited East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) as he mulls his decision on where he wants to continue his football career. The JHHS defensive end, who exploded onto the prep football scene his senior season to earn 1-2A All-District honors and an invitation to play in the post-season LA Gridiron Bowl made the visit to the campus in Marshall, TX on Monday, January 31st.
“Had a great visit at @ETBU_Football today🙏🏽” – tweet by Andrews
ETBU is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), competing at the Division III level and is a member of the American Southwest Conference (ASC). Offering a wide variety of intercollegiate athletics programs from which to choose, the ETBU Athletic Department seeks to provide quality Christian education and competition for all its student-athletes.
Andrews has received several other offers as well and is expected to announce his college destination on Wednesday, February 2nd, during a Signing Day ceremony at Jonesboro-Hodge High School.
