At a special called, tele-conference meeting held this past Monday, the Board of Aldermen for the Town of Jonesboro took a needed step in order to get one of the several long awaited Sewer and Water Improvement Projects underway.
The action taken by the quorum of Pete Stringer, Devin Flowers and Nia-Evans Johnson was the agreement to draft a resolution allowing for the town to accept the low bid submitted on Contract #2000562601 entitled Sewer Improvements – Lift Stations.
Once the resolution is in place and Louisiana Community Development Block Grant (LCDBG) requirements have been shown to be met, the Board will let the contract to TGS Contractors, Inc out of Minden, LA who submitted a low bid of $460,511.74.
In other action taken, the board voted to hold their next regularly scheduled meeting via tele-conference on February 15th, the second Tuesday of March. A move of the traditional meeting date of the Council was discussed but it was decided to wait to see what action is taken by the Jackson Parish Police Jury (JPPJ).
At the last meeting of the JPPJ it was decided to move their regularly scheduled monthly meeting from the second Monday of each month to the second Tuesday. This is the same date as the normal Town Council meeting each month, which caused a conflict among parties wanting to attend both. When this was brought to their attention, officers of the Police Jury pledged to bring the matter back up at their meeting to be held on the 15th.
