Quitman softball splits scrimmage games on Saturday

Maggie Guyotte struck out eight and allowed only two hits to Class 5A Airline as Quitman won the nightcap by a 3-1 margin of the five-game scrimmage set played at the Jackson Parish Recreation Department complex. Skylar Hall led the offensive attack with two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Madeline Vail also got a hit and scored a run as did Karley Huckaby. Also getting a hit was Madison Chaplin, Maddie Kaye Brymer and Marley Bell. 

The win offset an earlier loss by the Lady Wolverines who fell to Class Aa Winnfield by an 8-3 score.  Karley Huckaby got two of the three hits allowed by Winnfield pitching, scored a run and drove one in. Averie Willaims got the other hit and drove in a run with Skylar Hall scoring two runs after coaxing two walks. Maggie Guyotte also reached base twice via base on balls. 

In other contests played Caldwell fell to Winnfield and West Monroe, who ended up tying Airline.
