Celebrating the life of Sammy “Sibo” Carter

sammy carterMr. Sammy Jack “Sibo” Carter, of Jonesboro, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at the age of 82.

Born January 6, 1940, in Winnfield, Louisiana to Vergie and Wesley Carter, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by the love of his life of 57 years, Nelda Carter, parents Vergie and Wesley Carter, sister, Jimmie Aliene Carter, brother, Billy Carter, and a great grandson, Rowin “Baby Jack” Busby.

Sammy retired from Stone Container Paper Mill after 41 years and was involved with many activities throughout the community. He was one of the founding fathers for JP Little League, a Little League coach, a Jaycee, he was a board member for the Council on Aging, and Children of Mental Disabilities, a deacon at Springhill Baptist Church, he was on the Rolling Hills Disaster Recovery team, JH Riding Club President, involved with the Crossroads Ministry, and the parish Santa for 21 years.

Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Scott Carter and wife Bridget of Port Neches, TX, two daughters, Amy Magee and husband Darrell of Jonesboro, LA, and Robin Busby and husband David of Jonesboro, LA, six grandchildren, Chelsea Milian and husband Dr. Kyle of Montgomery, TX, Cody Donaldson and wife Sheree of Jonesboro, LA, Kymberleigh Johnson and husband Shane of Monroe, LA, Candyce Carter of Lake Charles, LA, Jesse Magee and wife Rachel of Jonesboro, LA, and Carter Busby and wife Bailey of Monroe, LA. Eleven great grandchildren, Reagan Milian, Carson Jack Milian, Hunter Donaldson, Aubrey Donaldson, Koltyn Donaldson, Emma Magee, Levi Magee, Zeek Brown, Mason Brown, Brady Johnson, and Lakelynn Busby. One Brother, Sonny Carter of Woodworth, LA, and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Springhill Baptist in Jonesboro, LA, with Bro. Don Cardin and Bro. Mac Brunson officiating. Interment will follow in the Springhill Cemetery, Jonesboro, LA, under the direction of Paradise Funeral Home.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Cody Donaldson, Jesse Magee, Carter Busby, Shane Johnson, Norman Abshere, and Dr. Kyle Milian.
