
In their first complete meet of the year, the boys and girls track team at Jonesboro-Hodge won 11 events had four seconds and six thirds to gain the lionshare of podium positions among the 15 schools that participated in the Quitman Relays held on March 31st.
Devontae Mozee placed first in the 300 Hurdles, Long Jump and Triple Jump and second in the High Jump to lead the Tigers boys team that registered seven first place finishes, all four of the second’s and four of the third’s.
Additional gold medal winners were Zion Gray (400M), Savantez Phillips (110H), 4×200 Relays (Darrian Moss, Kalep Atkins, O’Marrion Jackson, JaMarriyea Lewis) and 4×400 Relays (Christian McGuire, Cameron Leonard, D’Marrian Thompson, Gray).
Grabbing silver medals for the boys were Jamarriyea Lewis (200 Meters), Savantez Phillips (300 Hurdles) the 4×100 Relay team of Moss, Jackson, Justin Calahan and Lewis. Bronze medal winners were Calahan (100 Meters, Long Jump, Triple Jump) and Leonard (110 Hurdles).
The JHHS girls had four first place finishes including two in the relay races. The team of LeRonda McGuire, Zymea Hoggro, Xabrianna Jackson and Laila Johnson won the 4×100 with Jackson, Johnson, Hoggro and A’jorriana Hoggro winning the 4×200 relays. Zymea Hoggro and Jackson also took gold in the Long Jump and Triple Jump respectively. Johnson also won bronze in the 100 & 200 Meters while Hoggro finished third in the triple jump.
Host Quitman took two firsts, a second and five thirds in combined boys and girls events. Maddie Grace Giddens won for the third time this season in the 300 Hurdles while Bailey Keys, who also finished second in the javelin, and Sebastian Guinn finished first and second in the boys shot put. Kaleigh King (300 Hurdles), Emma Carter (High Jump), Taylor Huddleston (1600 Meters) and the girls 4×200 relay team of Madi Chaplin, Giddens, Emayshia Wiley and Bethany Leach grabbed third place finishes.
Weston had one podium placer while Saline had two. Rylee McBride finish third in the Shot Put for the Wolves with Georgia Robinson coming in second in the 100 Hurdles and Anthony Weathers third in the discus for Saline.
