When looking for a definition of what a student athlete, Webster’s Dictionary should simply just say – see Hunter Strickland. His dedication to the sport of basketball was one of the primary reasons Weston High School competed in their first ever LHSAA state basketball championship tournament in 2018. His commitment to his academic work allowed him to be able to continue his playing the sport in college at LSU-Alexandria, where he just completed his redshirt freshman year. The effort on both fronts in college, by the son of Jason and Stacey Strickland of Jonesboro, has now resulted in the 6’8″ post player being named the LSU-A male Student Athlete of the Year for 2021-2022.
