Jackson Parish has a well-deserved reputation of producing sports media specialists. Beginning with local sports writing legend Raymond “Doc” Jeffress and continuing with Louisiana Sports Writer Association and LA Sports Hall of Famers, Dan McDonald and Doug Ireland, for over 60 years the Piney Woods has produced outstanding sports journalists.
In today’s world, through the combination of modern technology and the advent of social media, a new type of sport communicator has developed. The Podcaster! Instead of having to rely on written information the sports aficionado can now hear and sometimes see, sports specialists speak in real time about sports topics. All it takes is a little media savvy and some smarts about the subject. It has taken sports communication to the next level.
Riding the crest of this new wave is local talent Ty Garrett, Railey Garrett, Kyle Horton, Peyton Mitchell, Chance Williams and Clay Williams, who have founded the Dirty Boots Sports Show podcast. The first broadcast was this past Thursday, May 30th and will continue every Thursday, where the group will banter about a variety of sports subjects for your pleasure.
