Through July 12th and possibly later depending on the response, Coldwell Spring is being shown nightly at the VFW Hall, located at 618 East Main Street in Jonesboro. Written, directed, and produced by local resident, Philip Lawrence, who is best known in the cinematic world for playing the role of Dr. Maloney in the 2012 film Beasts of the Southern Wild, the mystery movie was filmed primarily in Jackson Parish.
“This film could not have been made without the tremendous support of so many people in Jackson Parish, from those who played acting roles, to the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Department which provided vehicles and drivers, to the Jackson Parish Policy Jury for the use of the historic Jackson Parish Courthouse for the trial scenes, and countless others too numerous to name, but all of whom are listed in the closing credits of the film,” Lawrence said.
Premiered at Canal Place in New Orleans on May 22, 2022 the film was also screened at the Robinson Film Center in Shreveport on June 26, 2022. Carrying a PG rating the film which runs about an hour and 25 minutes will start at 7:30 pm.
“We originally set the date of July 12th as the last that the film would be shown at the VFW Hall but if there is a demand for additional showings we will be glad to accommodate the request,” said Lawrence, who is also the local post Commander.
Advanced tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the Hall any night between 6:30 to 7:30 PM or by texting 318-278-1744. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
