Braden Theriot leads Dawgs 15U to victory at Louisiana Tech

For many it may be the only time they will have the opportunity to play on a college field. For some it may just be the first of many times in their career. Then there is Braden Theriot who will always remember hitting an inside the park grand slam home run to lead his Dawgs 15U team to victory.

Playing in a 16U tourney played at the Love Shack on the campus of Louisiana Tech it was not surprising that the team made up of primarily underclassmen at Weston High  won only one of four games played against some of the top 16U teams from surrounding states.

It was also not surpising to see several of the young stars that led Weston to the Class B quarterfinals this past spring enjoy success in the tourney. Bryce Zehr, Braden Theriot, Cooper Delaney and Cole Tolar all hit .300 or better after getting at least 11 plate appearances. Layton Garrett also batted over .300 in limited action. The experience was also beneficial for Tayt Culpepper, Drew Williams, JR Hasley, Jase Shirley, Hudson Pullig, Sawyer Watkins and Dawson Lacomb.

Theriot, the hero of the 9-6  victory over the East Texas Swamper after going 2/3 with a an inside the park, grand slam, home run and 4 RBI led the way for the Dawg 15U team with four hits followed closely by Delaney and Tolar who had three hits apiece over the four games. Theriot also pace the team with seven RBI while Bryce Zehr was tops with six runs scored and seven walks. Sawyer Watkins led with two stolen bases.
