James “J.H.” Byrd
September 29, 1953-August 1, 2022

James “J.H.” Byrd went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 1st. The Jonesboro resident was a long-time member of the business community, where he continued family ownership and operation of Salter Bus Lines/Salter Trailways founded in 1919.

J.H. lived a wonderful life and will be missed by all who he loved and cherished in this world. The Jonesboro-Hodge High School graduate was an avid supporter of his alma mater who not only gave back to the school by arranging for the teams and fans to travel to away games in the comfort for over 30 years, but also often times did the driving so that he could be their to support the teams. 

James is survived by his wife Pat; son Nathan Byrd; daughters Kathryn Byrd and Stacy Strickland (husband Jason); grandchildren, Hunter Strickland, Dominick Strickland, Skylar Strickland;  grandaughter Olivia Plunkett along with loving nieces and nephews and close friends.

Visitation and viewing will be held at Paradise Funeral Home in Jonesboro on Wednesday, 8/3/22, from 4:00pm till 8:00pm.
Funeral services will be held at St. Lucy Catholic Church in Hodge on Thursday, 8/4/22, at 11:00am.
