Jonesboro Hodge Elementary School (JHES) received its first set of outwear on October 6, 2022 from the Jackson Parish Library. The library began a coat drive for the JHES Tiger Closet shortly after school began this school year. The Jackson Parish Library has partnered with JHES in efforts to help students that are in need of uniforms, school supplies, etc. The library’s recent efforts include taking jackets and coats as a dropoff point for the school. JHES recently created a clothing/supplies closet for the school’s students in its Wrap Around School Services.
The closet is in memory of Tucker Wallis, Corey Carter, and Lexi Wise. TheTiger Closet is a clothing and supplies closet for students attending JHES who are in need of such support. Currently, 22 students have received items from the Tiger Closet. A very big thank you to our community for donating items to the closet to help these students. Please continue to donate to the Tiger Closet.
Specific items that would be of particular benefit to the closet include kids’ size 18 and 20 uniform tops and bottoms, women’s and men’s size large and extra large underwear, and size large socks. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
Mrs. Tristen Bergholtz collected the first round of coats and will be distributing them to students as the weather changes and student needs are identified. Thank you to Angela Walsworth, Jonesboro Branch Manager for the Jackson Parish Library, for all her work in the coat drive. Judy Robertson, Assistant Director of the Jonesboro Branch, was on hand to give Mrs. Bergholtz the coats already collected.
JHES is proud to be a partner with the Jackson Parish Library. The main library branch is located in Jonesboro on Polk Street and an additional branch is in Chatham on Pine Street.“The library hosts events each week for adults and children. For a list of upcoming events, you can visit jacksonparishlib.org. The library would love to see you and your student at the library as your student develops a love of learning. Encourage your children to read and use the library as often as possible.
