Former JHHS gridiron stars, Mozee and Moss reunite at La Tech vs UTEP game

While they didn’t play football for Jonesboro-Hodge at the same time, they wore the same school colors.  Today, one still wears the “red and blue” while other is adorned orange and black, except now it is the colors of the NCAA Division 1 universities they play for. Both were on the field this past Saturday where Devontea Mozee suited up for host, Louisiana Tech and Kelton Moss was on the visitors side as a member of the University of Texas-El Paso.

It is believed that the reunion marked the first time that two former JHHS players suited up against each other in over 30 years. That was when Tyjuan Hayes (USL) and Purvis Hunt (NLU) did so in 1989.

“I am really happy for both Devontae and Kelton to both be able to realize their dreams of playing after high school,” said JHHS head coach Terrance Blankenship. “Both were special talents and even better leaders while they were here and did a lot for our program.”

For the record Lousiana Tech beat UTEP 41-31 in the Conference USA battle.
