The JHES family, as part of their Wrap Around Services for students, have created a partnership with the LSU Ag Center this school year. 4th grade students at Jonesboro Hodge Elementary School are participating in a garden competition.
On September 22, 2022, the 4th grade J-HES students began preparing the garden beds. The students worked at the school to renew the soil, pull weeds, and planted new plants. They also learned about when the beds need watering and how to watch the plants daily for any problems. Throughout the year, the students will also have the opportunity to complete 4-H projects and submit them to the 4-H office.
There are many events, camps, resources, and projects that students can participate in with their local 4-H. Students can join 4-H this school year by completing an application online (v2.4honline.com) and submit a cash or check payment of $10. For more information, please contact Kristi Bourgeois, Jackson Parish 4-H Extension Agent at 318-259-5690 or kmbourgeois@agcenter.lsu.edu.
All 4-H membership applications and dues are due October 31, 2022. Louisiana 4-H is the largest youth development program with clubs and groups in all sixty-four parishes. From food, fitness, and fashion to computers, cows, and camping, there’s a 4-H activity for everyone.
