Mr. Shields and Miss Bass took Agriscience 3 and 4 students on industry tours in Natchitoches, LA. They started the day off with a tour through the facilities and assembly line at Alliance Compressors where they were able to see how compressors for multiple Trane and Lennox air conditioners are made.
They walked the students through the entire process of how a compressor is made and tested and how they test for quality assurance before being shipped out to consumers and companies. After that the tour continued with a stop by the Natchitoches campus of Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC). It was a great way to expose students to the opportunities after high school for those that wanted to go straight to work rather than college. Several of the programs were more like apprenticeships where they would be able to work for companies and earn money while going to school. There they learned about the many opportunities that one could receive after graduating high school and talked with instructors in the following programs:
Advanced Manufacturing Technician
Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC)
