The annual Christmas in the Pines Festival is one of the most popular and celebrated events in Jackson Parish year in and year out. Not only is the transformation of Jimmie Davis Boulevard, aka, Main Street in Jonesboro into a spectacular display of lights enjoyed by local residents but visitors from all around.
In order to prepare for such a gala extravaganza it takes hours, days and weeks of work and wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of volunteers who take the time to help make Jonesboro a premier Christmas season destination. Recently a group of volunteers helped string lights and prepare the storefronts of the unoccupied building on Main Street with Christmas scenes.
A SPECIAL THANKS go to Sheryl Holder, Barbara Johnson, Vernie Meeks, Dean Rushing, Johnny Horton, FGT youth and their leaders, as well as, Town of Jonesboro employees and others who gave of their time.
Below are some scenes from the day. (Photo’s courtesy of Wilda Smith)
