Cornerstone Christian Academy claims 3rd in Slice League Volleyball Tourney

After the Junior and Junior Varsity co-ed teams at Cornerstone Chtistian Academy (CCA) in Jonesboro earned second and third place finishes in the end of the year SLICE League Volleyball Championshp Tournaments, the varsity squard made it three for three finishing in the top three.jody smith1 Coached by David and Shasta Broadway the ten player squad completed the sweep of trophy placements by taking third in the varsity co-ed division. Their sucess was led by Jody Smith who was voted team MVP for the tournament. 

The Sports League for Independent Christian Educators, or SLICE, is a private sports league specifically tailored to small, faith-based educators in Louisiana and Texas. SLICE is currently made up of ten member institutions: Bethel Christian Academy, Center Academy, Cornerstone Christian Academy, Heritage Baptist Christian School, Hope Baptist School, Kingston Christian Academy, the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, Northside Christian Academy, and Provencal Christian Academy; and one associate institution: Northeast Christian Academy.

Students enjoy First Aid/CPR class at JPASD

The Jackson Parish Ambulance Service District (JPASD) in Jonesboro treated interested students from CCA to a First Aid and CPR training class on November 9th at their new state of the art training center located at 115 Watts Avenue in Jonesboro. Not only did those participating learn valuable and possible life saving skills but also got a tour of the facility and the inside of an ambulance unit. 

“We enjoyed teaching them and sharing a little of what we do in EMS,” said JPASD director Aaron Johnson.  “Maybe we’ll see them in a future EMT class!”
