Town of Jonesboro Water Department responds to line breakage on Sixth Street

When Attorney Darrell Avery stepped out of his office on the corner of 6th Street and East Court Street in Jonesboro he immediately noticed that something was not right.

“When I walked out I saw water bubbling up from the street and running down the hill,” said Avery. “I knew right away that something was seriously wrong.”

He was correct.

What had taken place was a main line had burst underneath the street. Employees of the Jonesboro Water Department quickly responded. In order to find where the problem was coming from they had to use heavy equipment to dig through the asphalt and locate the line which was several feet in the ground. As it turned out the line was burst in several spots forcing about a 15 ffot trench to be dug across the road. Using their expertise, they then quickly as possible repaired the faulty line and soon had traffic flowing again. Kudo’s to the water department crew for a job well done!
