2023 AGEXPO Livestock Show, 4-H Shooting Sport Quiz Bowl upcoming

Sponsored by the LSU AgCenter, North Louisiana Agri-Business Council, and Louisiana Tech University the 2023 AgExpo Livestock Show will be held at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe, LA on Saturday, January 14th. The schedule of events is as follows:
7:30 am – 8:30AM: Weigh market lambs. Scales for weighing market lambs will close at 8:30AM.
9:00AM: Market lamb showmanship (oldest to youngest). Market lamb show will begin immediately following market lamb showmanship. Beef showmanship (oldest to youngest) – Seniors (15 & over) and Intermediates (12-14) will begin at 9:00AM in separate show rings. Juniors (9-11) will begin immediately after the division (Seniors or Intermediate) that finishes first. Beef cattle classes will begin immediately following the completion of all showmanship divisions.
8:30 – 9:30: Weigh market goats. Scales for weighing market goats will close at 9:30AM. Goat showmanship (market & breeding combined – oldest to youngest) will begin immediately following the market lamb show. Market goat show will begin immediately following goat showmanship. Breeding goat show will begin immediately following the market goat show.

Attention Jackson Parish 4-H Shooting Sports Members…

Mark your calendars! The 2023 National 4-H Shooting Sports Annual Virtual Quiz Bowl is just around the corner. The event dates are January 16 to 20. See below for answers to frequently asked questions about the event. 

What does it cost to participate in the Quiz Bowl?  $10 per entry, or $40 for a team of 3 or 4 youth
What are the age divisions? Juniors are 9-11 on January 1, 202; Intermediates are 12-14 on January 1, 2023; Seniors are 15-19 on January 1, 2023
Is it discipline-specific, or general knowledge? The Quiz Bowl is comprehensive, including disciplines from ALL 4-H Shooting Sports disciplines (Archery, Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, Muzzle Loading, Hunting Skill, and Western Heritage) as well as general 4-H knowledge and STEM. Information is taken from the study materials provided.
Is there a specific time that kids have to participate/sign on to take the quiz? The Quiz Bowl is a virtual event. Upon registration, you will receive a one-time link to the quiz. You can take the quiz anytime between 12:01AM (EST) on Monday, January 16, 2023, and 11:59PM (EST) on Friday, January 20, 2023 – there will be no late entries or retakes. The quiz will take approximately one hour, depending on your knowledge.
How is the quiz scored? Juniors will have 25 questions; Seniors will have 50 questions. Scores are based on the number of correct answers and the time it takes to answer complete the quiz. Teams’ scores will consist of the top 3 scores, with the 4th score being thrown out. If a team only has three teammates then those scores will be used.
Are there awards? Yes, the top 10 regional teams and individuals, as well as the top 10 national teams and individuals, will be awarded medallions or ribbons.
