The Jonesboro Hodge Elementary School began an exciting new adventure Saturday in their 5th grade Basketball League in the league jamboree hosted by Cypress Springs.

The boys team played Cypress Springs in the first ever contest in the school’s history. The first half saw the Tigers play the defending league champs even to come up just a little short in the second half. The final score saw the Wildcats defeat the Tigers 16 to 10. The Tigers were led by Jason McNeil and Cannon Tatum who both scored five points a piece while Levi Martin pulled down an impressive 9 rebounds.

The girls in atypical fashion played the latter game against Ruston Elementary. In similar fate the Lady Tigers held their own against yet another league juggernaut only to come up just short losing the contest by just 3 points. The Lady Tigers were led in scoring and rebounding by Jeniah Mays and Timberly Wilson. Mariyah Harland provided an impressive defensive performance with 5 steals. The Lady Tigers are coached by Kyana Jackson and Jessica Jackson Reese.
