
The Chatham Town Council voted to deny the request by the First Baptist Church in Chatham to not be billed for water usage relating to the meter that is on the basketball court at the church at their regularly scheduled monthly meeting that was held on February 14th.
FBC officials had stated that they should not be billed for the water as it is used is used by the public. The request was denied by Councilmembers Paula Ackley, Toni Malone, Laverne Mixon, Sue Proffer and Mike Wilson following an Attorney General’s opinion that it would be illegal to not charge for the usage.
In other action Resolution 2023-03 was approved allowing for David Risher to serve as Director and Gregory C Harris as Alternate
Director to serve on the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Municipal Natural Gas Purchasing and Distribution Authority. Also it was agreed to review the clean up ordinance at the next regular meeting before moving forward with the cleanup of the village. In corresponding action it was approved by all to keep the Collection Policy & Procedures that have previously been approved in place. The audit for fiscal year 2021 – FY 2022 was also approved as presented.
The meeting was adjourned after all financial statements were approved as presented.
