Quitman High School will be one of 14 schools competing for Division V Regional honors that is set for April 17th – 18th at the University of Louisiana – Monroe (ULM). The youthful Wolverine squad is led by 8th grader Libby Morgan (shown above) who has compiled an overall varsity record of 12-4, the majority of her wins coming from her first year of singles competition. Overall Quitman has a match record of 36-47, not including the results from Tuesday’s meet at St. Mary’s in Natchitoches.
Head coach Tommy Smith is proud of the way his team has competed this year and excited about the experience his team will gain by playing in the regionals.
“We are very young this year with many of our players competing in varsity competition for the first time. We have come a long way and I am very proud of the way we have grown and keep improving,” said Smith. “I am excited about what the opportunity to play in an atmosphere like regionals will do for us in the future.”
