Weston High Gymnasium to get new seats

It will be a lot more comfortable watching Weston High School play basketball next season. That is because the Jackson Parish School Board has agreed to accept the low quote of $105,900.00 from Insight, Inc. for 262 Hussey Fusion chairs to be installed at in the gymnasium. Included is the removal of existing seats and bleachers.

In a corresponding move, the Board also agreed to accept the low quote of $32,724.06 from BSN Sports to purchase and install weight room equipment for Weston High School baseball team. 

The regularly scheduled monthly session that took place on Monday, April 3rd, began with board members Gerry Mims, Rick Barlow, Paulette Belton, Dennis Clary, Calvin Waggoner (President), Mary Saulters and Wade McBride going into executive session.

Discussion centered on the pending litigation in that matter styled, Wyatt vs. Jackson Parish School Board. Upon returning, it was announced that the recommendation of Hammonds & Sills Law Firm was accepted. No further details were revealed. 

The following recommendations by the Executive/Finance Committee were then approved.

1.  Payment of General Fund bills in amount of $768,265.25
2. Payment of Federal Program bills in amount of $525,073.38
3. Payment of School Food Service bills in amount of $159,282.57
4. Payment of Sales Tax bills in amount of $1,110,101.68
5. Payment of Special Education Fund bills in amount of $73,357.92
6. Payment of District Maintenance bills in amount of $192,690.30
7. Approving the hourly rate of $30.00 for Teachers, $15.00 for Support
Staff and $70.00 per day ($17.70 extra per day for after school transportation)
for Bus Drivers for the 9th Grade Academy Summer Learning, Saturday School,
Super Summer for Students with Disabilities (SWD), SWD PK Music and Art
Academy, SWD Extended School Year Program, Direct Student Services
(DSS)tutoring, and Parish Wide Summer School, to be paid from ESSER III
Incentive, IDEA, IDEA ARP 619, IDEA ARP 611, ESSER II, ESSER III, ESSER
IIIEB and DSS Tutoring funds.

In final action the Board approved the recommendation of the Transportation Committee to accept the low quote of $43,750.00 from Jay Mallard Ford Lincoln, LLC to purchase a 2023 Ford F-150 Supercab, to be paid from ESSER II. Out of state travel for five (5) teachers, two (2) administrators from Jonesboro Hodge High School and one (1) Supervisor to travel to Dallas June 11-14, 2023 to participate in the AVID Summer Institute Training as part of their 9th Grade Academy Program, to be paid from ESSER III Incentive funds was also approved
