Kitty Jane Carter
July 23rd, 1950 – April 16th, 2023

kittyFuneral Service for Mrs. Kitty Jane Carter will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, April 20, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Ruston, LA with Bro. Clayton Owens and Bro. Craig officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Church.

Mrs. Kitty Carter was born on July 23, 1950 and passed from this life on April 16, 2023 at the age of 72. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ruston where she served as church secretary. She loved worshipping and socializing with the members of her Adult 7 Sunday School class. She was a volunteer at Life Choices of North Central Louisiana in Ruston. She also volunteered her time on Wednesday nights in the First Kids 4 year old class.

She had a beautiful spirit. She was selfless and always encouraged other even when she was in need herself. She touched countless people with her living testimony. She loved her family dearly. She looked forward to cooking for everyone on holidays and Sunday nights. She especially looked forward to her annual summer vacation with her children and grandchildren.

She is preceded by her husband, Glen Edward Carter; sons, Timothy Earl Carter and Brandon John Carter; grandson, Dakota Lynn Carter; great grandson, Corey James Carter; parents, J.Q. and Dettie Whitlock; brothers, J.Q. Whitlock, Gene Whitlock, and Butch Whitlock; and sister Pat Barnette.

Those left to cherish her memories include her son, Eris Carter and wife Janet of Jonesboro, LA; sister, Johnnie Mae Brister of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Nicole Cater, Tyler Carter, Olivia Kate Carter, Lucy Carter, Sadie Carter, Penny Carter, Della Carter-Ligon, and Kaci Wyman; great grandchildren, Jett Carter, Beaux Carter, and Eden Carter; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Armer King, Toby Deese, Jody Deese, James Oliver, Caleb Duplissey, and Charles McGuire.

Jimmie Carolyn Cooper
October 22, 1941 – April 11, 2023

cooperFuneral services for Mrs. Jimmie Carolyn Cooper, age 81 of Quitman, LA were held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Quitman with Rev. Michael Whitman and Rev. Jerry Smelley officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery in Quitman under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

Jimmie was born October 22, 1941 in Quitman to Lois Ricks and Clinton Harvey and passed away April 11, 2023 in Ruston. She was a sweet and very easy-going person. Jimmie loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church and loved her church with her heart and her spirit. Jimmie served her church by being involved with the CPW. She was a good cook and liked reading. Jimmie loved to go shopping. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Willis Cooper; sister Emma Jean Shively; son-in-law Randall Lancaster; and sister-in-law Alma Gray.

Jimmie is survived by her two children Todd Cooper and wife Melanie of Quitman and Nicole Lancaster of Quitman; five grandchildren: Justin Cooper of Denver, CO, Ashley Cooper of Columbus, OH, Cainan Lancaster of Quitman, Malynn Cooper of Weston, LA and Cooper Lancaster of Quitman; one sister Nellie Joy Nunn of Jonesboro, LA; and a host of family and numerous other friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Mark Shively, Matt Shively, Rodger Council, Cainan Lancaster, Cooper Lancaster and Blake Stevenson. Honorary pallbearers were Justin Cooper, Lee Council and Ed Ewing.

Susan Caroline Hays
September 2, 1973 – April 17, 2023

haysSusan Caroline Hays, age 49 of Jonesboro, ascended to her Heavenly home for a grand reunion on Monday, April 17, 2023. Susan was a generous soul with a huge heart for helping others and always would help whether she could afford to or not. She cared for everyone and was known to have a servant’s heart. She worked for a soup kitchen helping others and worked her way up to management. She was very proud of herself for this accomplishment. However, this was just one of her many accomplishments. Susan was also an accomplished vocalist. She enjoyed being a soloist in her high school youth choir and with them went to state competitions several years in a row. She also held talent in playing the piano and clarinet.

Susan was a sweet loving soul and had many people in her life that she called beloved friends. She loved her family; her parents and siblings, but she held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews. She did not have children of her own, but the Lord blessed her with numerous nieces and nephews that consumed her heart. She enjoyed doting her attention to them as she cared for them while their parents worked. Susan was loved and will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory is her mother, Carole Jeanette (Jordan) Hays; siblings, John Hays, Craig Hays (Jacque), Sean Arter (Jeremy), Stacey Huckaby (Monty), Shelley Suire (Russell); nieces and nephews, Crystal Hays Fox (Jeremy), Jacob Shows (Anna Claire), Cole Shows, Ben Shows, Jackson Suire, Landry Suire, Paris Huckaby, Adrian Huckaby, Evan Huckaby, London Huckaby; great nieces, Macie Fox, Maelyn Fox; special, beloved friends, Kay and David Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Bowen Hays; paternal grandparents, John and Dorothy (Courtney) Hays; maternal grandparents, Horace and Amboline (Wheatly) Jordan.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at a later date.
