Barry Dean McGee
August 24, 1947 – June 4, 2023

mcgeeBarry Dean McGee, age 75 of Jonesboro, passed peacefully through Heaven’s gates on Sunday, June 4, 2023. Barry loved to laugh and to play the comedian. He enjoyed watching old Westerns, especially John Wayne. He spent most of his working career driving trucks or Salter buses.

He enjoyed traveling and his favorite sights to see were the mountains. Barry was a strong-willed man that worked hard for his family. He also loved the Lord. He enjoyed bible study and cherished the friendship of his study mates. He was a family man that loved his family dearly; especially his grandchildren. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren telling stories to them. He will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40+ years, Sandy McGee; children, Deanna (McGee) Carter, Christopher Dean McGee (Jennifer), Michelle (McGee) Mullins (Kerry), Stacy McGee; grandchildren, Haylea Hunter, Zayda McGee, Nathan Dean McGee, Anzlea McGee, Axle Mullins; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Opal (Murray) McGee.

Lloyd Glen Hatten
February 25, 1942 – June 3, 2023

hattenLloyd Glen Hatten, 81, passed away on June 3, 2023, in West Monroe, Louisiana. He was born on February 25, 1942, in a log cabin at the “old place” family home in the Zoar community near Chatham, Louisiana.

Lloyd graduated from Chatham High School in 1960. He then joined the United State Army and served for several years as a radar operator in Battery C, 2nd Missile Battalion, 61st Artillery Brigade in Okinawa. After leaving military service, he worked as a fireman and then worked for Turpins Lumber, Wickes Lumber, and Crestline. He eventually worked in the timber industry for many years and ended his working career with Swift Transportation, allowing him to see much of the USA. Lloyd was married twice and had one child.

In his free time, Lloyd enjoyed fishing on the many rivers and lakes in Caldwell Parish and sitting on his porch reminiscing with his family and many good friends.

Lloyd is survived by his son, Glen Hatten and wife Debby, step sons Wood Posey and wife Yolanda and Scott Posey and wife Michelle, his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several cousins and nephews.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Baskin Hatton, his mother, Bertha Pardue Smith Hatton, his brothers, Ormon Baskon Hatten, Clarence Gene Hatton, and Carl Ross Hatton, his sister, Vauda Fay Hatton, and the love of his life, his wife, Mary Jean Hatten.

Lloyd’s funeral will be held at Southern-Edmonds Chapel in Jonesboro, Louisiana on June 8, 2023 at 10:00AM with visitation beginning at 9:00AM. He will then be buried at Zoar Methodist Church Cemetery near Chatham, Louisiana with a graveside service.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Jesse McGee, Jerry Ingles, Curt Ingles, Darrell McGee, Terry Boone, Scott Posey.

Sundra Woods
January 31, 1964 – June 3, 2023

woodsSundra Jean Woods passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023 in Monroe, Louisiana. She was 59 years old. Sundra was a cafeteria supervisor for Ouachita Parish School System for over 20 years. She loved all of “her kids” at Lakeshore Elementary in Swartz, Louisiana. Sundra was an avid shopper and she always remembered everyone’s birthday. She was a very generous person.

Sundra is survived by the love of her life, Terry Trichell; step children, Adrian and Jason; siblings, Brenda Chatham, Beth McDonald & Marty, Truman Woods, Faye Dubberly & Raymond, Donna Duke & Carl, Deborah McLaughlin; special nieces and nephews, Rhiannon, Eddy, J.J., & Charlie Headrick; and numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Truman & Marjorie (Tarver) Woods; and sister, Kimberly Woods.

Friends may visit with the family at Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro, Louisiana on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the chapel, officiated by Bro. Jeff Hurst. Burial will follow in the Cemetery at the Hilltop Worship Center in Eros, Louisiana.
