Jackson Parish 4-H delegates bring home medals from state competition

Four delegates representing Jackson Parish 4-H finished in the top ten in their respective contests at the Excel 4-H University state competition held on the campus of LSU in Baton Rouge. Recognition for the 5th place State Forestry team from the fall competition was given as well. 

4-H University State Competition Winners

Sebastian Guin (4th place): High Individual Consumer Decision Making
Easton Hall (6th place): Zero Turn Mower Operations
Alley Hines (6th place): Upcycled Fashion
Jake Potts (8th place): Tractor Operations

4-H University is the premier 4-H event of the year for 4-H members currently in 8th-12th grade. There are over 30 contests offered in the competitive track providing individual and team competitions in demonstrations, interviews, speeches/talks and project related examinations.

During 4-H U, participants were introduced to aspects of life that college students
experience on an daily basis. Depending on their interests, students were offered tours of a working dairy, a biomedical center, and athletic facilities.

Easton Hall in National Archery Competition

Easton Hall headed to Grand Island, Nebraska, this past week to represent Jackson Parish and Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports in the Compound Bow Division of the National Archery Championships to be held June 25-30. Hall qualified by placing 3rd in field competition and 5th place overall in the state shooting sports competition held in April at Grand Cane.
