Village of Chatham, LA Public Hearing Minutes

The Village of Chatham held a public hearing on August 8, 2023, at 5:30pm at Village Hall located at 1709 Oak St Chatham, LA to hear comments from the public regarding the rolling forward of the tax millage from 0.741 mills to 0.781 mills. The hearing was called to order by Mayor Gregory Harris. Present were council members Toni Malone, Laverne Mixon and Sue Ann Proffer. No public attended the meeting. Toni Malone motioned, Sue Proffer seconded and approved by all to adjourn. The public hearing
was adjourned at 5:57pm.

Village of Chatham, LA Regular Call Meeting Minutes

The Village of Chatham held its regularly scheduled meeting on August 8, 2023, at 6:00pm. Present were Mayor Gregory Harris, council members Bernadean James, Toni Malone, Laverne Mixon and Sue Ann Proffer; council member Mike Wilson was absent. Visitors present were Sue Henderson, John Mize, Brenda Williams and Eddie Ruth Wyatt. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Harris. Council member Toni Malone lead the Pledge of Allegiance and Mayor Harris gave the invocation.
Toni Malone motioned, and Sue Proffer seconded and approved by all to accept minutes as read for the regular meeting held on July 11, 2023
Sue Proffer motioned and Bernadean James seconded and approved by all to pass Resolution 2023-06 to adopt the adjusted millage rate of 0.781.
Sue Proffer motioned and Toni Malone seconded and approved by all to pass Resolution 2023-07 to set forth the adjusted millage and to roll forward the millage.
Toni Malone motioned, and Bernadean James seconded and approved by all to pass Resolution 2023-08 to set up bank accounts for USDA grants.
Toni Malone motioned, and Sue Proffer seconded and approved by all to pay the monthly bills. Toni Malone updated the mayor, council and public on information from the LMA conference she attended in Alexandria last week. She also informed all that a lot of useful information could be found on the LMA’s website http://www.lma.org.
Toni Malone motioned, and Bernadean James seconded and approved by all to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 6:38pm.
