Yup, I’m a Baby Boomer!
Yup, I grew up watching black and white programs on Zenith and Admiral TV. We referred to them as television sets back in the dark ages. I can attribute my yup terminology to watching Gary Cooper in black and white classics. I wonder; was it the TV Guide that ushered in the abbreviation for television?
In my day, Ford family television viewing was limited to two channels: 3-WSYR, NBC affiliate and 5-WHEN/CBS, in Syracuse, NY. Later, we were thrilled to receive a third station, 9-WNYS/ABC. Our television reception varied; it depended on the direction of the antenna and weather conditions.
Many times the picture was full of static and I could barely see the program. Moving the rabbit-ears antenna and pulling down window shades to darken the room helped (but not a great deal). The stations sent out a signal but we lived too far from the television stations transmitters and towers.
If I ‘distance myself’ from God (through neglect or rebellion) the reception of His will not be clear. Sin separates me from the Father; yet, He sends out His messages of forgiveness.
“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear (Isaiah 59:2 KJV).”
I confess my sin and receive His forgiveness. The LORD hears hearts and restores broken fellowship.
