
Lovie Williams Jr.
August 17, 1954 – September 28, 2023
Lovie Williams, Jr. age 69 of Quitman ascended to his Heavenly home on Thursday, September 28, 2023. Lovie was born to the union of Lovie and Betty (Borland) Williams on August 17, 1954 in Jonesboro, La. He loved his family dearly, especially his nieces and nephews. Lovie never married, although he did come close a couple of times. He said he realized that there were so many women that he did not know how he could just choose one.
Lovie is a Jonesboro-Hodge High School graduate and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved to cruise around in his car. Only God truly knows how many miles he put on his car as he drove it throughout his life. He was a one-of-a-kind character that never met a stranger. If you knew him you would learn very quickly just how wildly funny he was. He was full of life and spoiled rotten. Lovie was loved by family and friends alike and will be missed.
Those left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Roger D. Williams and wife Susan, Wanda G. Neeles and husband Charlie, Hazel Lou Forbes; 2 nieces; 3 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lovie and Betty (Borland) Williams; sister, Glenda Williams; maternal grandparents, Doyle Borland, Dora Pratt.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home chapel from 5:00-7:00PM. A private graveside will take place at a later date.
John Wilmer McCollum
May 2, 1939 – September 29, 2023
John Wilmer “Johnny” McCollum of Jonesboro, Louisiana passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Jackson Parish Hospital. He was 84 years old.
Johnny loved his family dearly and he loved being outside and working in his yard. He loved everything about the New York Yankees, and to say that he was a just a fan would be a severe understatement. Johnny was so totally consumed with the Yankees that he even kept score and stats when he watched a game.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 22 years, Debbie (Orsborn) McCollum; special fur-baby, Lincoln Todd; sons, Michael Broadway and wife, Jennifer and David Broadway and wife, Shasta; grandchildren, Bailey and husband, Garyn, Lauren and fiancé, Joe, Memphis, Parker, Paige and Paisley; cousins, Cecil and Elizabeth Brooking, Elaine Case and Thomas Jean; and numerous, loving aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilmer McCollum; mother, Eula (Parker) McCollum; son, Terry Wayne Broadway.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. At 1:00 PM, the funeral procession will travel to Winnfield, Louisiana for 2:00 PM graveside service to be held at the Garden of Memories, under the direction of Southern –Edmonds Funeral Home. Bro. David Broadway and Bro. Joel Sneed will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Parker Broadway, Joe Brady, Kyle Wilkerson, Lewis Chatham, Michael Broadway and David Broadway. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Brown, Randy Layfield, Jalen Johnson, Robert Jiles, Procila Anderson and Rodney Coker.
