Davis / Duck in 3rd place on NELAHS Anglers Trail after Caney Lake Tourney

Hayden Davis and Maddox Duck caught five fish on Caney Lake this past weekend to become one of only two teams on the Northeast Louisiana High School Anglers Tourney Trail to weigh in the limit at both tournaments held to date.

While the 8.01 lb. total was good for only 15th place, the pair representing Quitman High School is still in great position after the 2023 portion of the NELAHS season, sitting in third place overall and tops among the local angler teams.

Several other local teams are in good shape as well after the second leg of the NELAHS Tourney Trail. Maddox Williams of Saline and his partner Eddie Hyatt from Lakeside High School in Sibley are in 5th place overall after their 9th place finish at Caney, followed by Landin Chatham of Weston and partner Hunter VanBuren (West Ouachita) in 8th place as result of their 7th place showing last week, highest among local entries.

Brody Halbrook and Brendan Newton of Gracepoint Christian Academy (GCA) sit in 10th overall after coming in 12th on their home lake with Quitman entrants Waylon Sullivan and Jake Vail climbing to the 15th position by finishing 10th on Saturday.

Lane Diffey and Remington Gregory, representing Weston High finished in 19th place and is 23rd overall while Jaxon Daniels and Gunner Garrett (Quitman) fell to 26th after having no luck on Caney. A 22nd place finish by the team of Aiden Reed and Noah Spillman jumped the Quitman reps to 30th overall with the all girl team of Hailey Chatham and Addison Ledford checking in 35th place after two tourneys. GCA representatives Garret Dietrich and Gabe Walsworth and the team of Andrew Brown and Cason Rogers of Quitman are in 41st and 42nd place overall respectively.

The weekend tourney on Caney Lake was the final event of 2023 on the NELAHS Anglers Tournament Trail with the next event slated for January 6th at Lake Bruin in St. Joseph, LA.
