
Myrtle “Sue” Marie Warren
February 16, 1928 – October 20, 2023
Funeral services for Myrtle Marie “Sue” Brannon Warren, 95, of Castor were held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 23, 2023 in Ashland Baptist Church. Officiating was Bro. Barry Joyner and Bro. Danny Slack. Burial followed in Ebenezer Cemetery in Castor, LA under the direction of Rockett Funeral Home of Ringgold, LA.
Sue was born February 16, 1928 in Sulphur, LA and passed away October 20, 2023 in Shreveport, LA. She was a 1945 graduate of Sulphur High School, Sulphur, LA. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern State College, Natchitoches, LA in 1949. In 1961, she received her Master’s of Education degree from Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, LA.
She held many jobs including working at Martin Timber Company, Dimmick and Hamilton Law Firm and Barksdale Air Force Base, where she had top secret clearance and worked on secret projects. Her passion was being an educator. She taught school at Bienville High School and retired as Assistant Principal and teacher from Castor High School after thirty-four years in education. She was a faithful member of Ashland Baptist Church in Ashland, LA.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Jackson Warren; mother, Mary Elizabeth Singleton Brannon Cox; father, Robert Duke Brannon, Sr; brothers, Robert Duke Brannon, Jr., James Harrison “Harry” Brannon and Jens James Brannon; sister, Mildred Magdalene Brannon Mills and son-in-law, Dr. Donald Wells.
Left to cherish her memory include her sons, Randall Thomas Warren and wife, Diane of Chestnut, LA and William Rick Warren and wife, Candice of Jonesboro, LA; daughter, June Marie Warren Wells of El Dorado, AR; grandsons, Evan Randall Warren of Montgomery, TX, Christopher Thomas Warren and wife, Mary Beth of Bossier City, LA and William Jackson Warren of Jonesboro, LA; granddaughters, Jesse Marie Wells Rubio and husband, Christian of Clinton, MA, Kelsey Ann Wells Ford and husband, Steven and their son, Parker James Ford of Beebe, AR and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Larry Carr, Billy Wallace, Donnie Warren, Evan Warren, Christopher Warren and Steven Ford. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Warren, Bud Bogan, Terry Carr, Mike McCarthy, Jessie Joyner, Willie Gene Guin, Will Warren and Christian Rubio.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Betty Cook, home health nurse and Stat Home Health.
James F. Nix
March 20, 1948 – October 20, 2023
Surrounded by family and friends, James Flinn Nix passed from this life and received his eternal reward on Friday, October 20, 2023. He was born March 20, 1948, to JT and Rachel Nix of Jonesboro, Louisiana.
He graduated from Jonesboro Hodge High School in 1966 and began his career with LP&L, now Entergy, in 1971. Monday, October 23, 2023, is the 45th anniversary of the accident that changed his life forever. Although physically he was never the same, his selflessness and consideration for others remained steadfast. James loved people and was always more concerned about others than himself.
James is preceded in death by his parents JT & Rachel Nix. He leaves behind his brother John (Anna) of Maryland along with Patsy, his wife of 56 years; daughters Michelle of Hodge, Louisiana, and Leslie (Ken) of Natchitoches, Louisiana; grandchildren Bridget, Wesley James, Zachary, Emily, and Noah; great-grandson Riley James-David; and numerous other family members and friends.
Funeral services and interment was held at Ebenezer Baptist Church and Ebenezer Cemetery on Monday, October 23rd under the direction of Paradise Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Pallbearers were Wesley Coleman, Zachary Heard, Noah Heard, Gary Joiner, Roy Parker, and Delwyn Peters.
