
A 16-8 first quarter deficit grew to Weston being behind 37-18 at the half as Simsboro surprised the Wolves at home on Monday by a 76-43 score to end the best start to a season in head coach Jacob Otwell’s tenure.
In earlier season action Weston ripped off three straight wins on the road beginning with a season opening 73-62 victory over Summerfield followed by a 60-34 win over Dodson and a 53-41 win over Castor in the Dodson Tournament.
Weston 57 Simsboro 29 (girls) Lainee Trosclair scored 17 points to lead short handed Weston to the victory. Lexie Millien and Anslee Aldy both also reached double digits in scoring with 14 and 13 respectively while Nadia Siadek pulled down 8 rebounds.
Castor 52 Weston 35 (girls) Carly Jo Griffin and Anslee Aldy scored 12 each but a 14 point run by Castor in the second half put the game away. Nadia Siadek was a beast on the boards for Weston finishing with a career high 12 rebounds.
Weston 60 Dodson 26 (girls) Leading by 18-11, Weston went on a ten point run and never looked back for the easy victory. The Lady Wolves played stifiling defense that accounted for 21 steals and 47 rebounds, led by Jacie Leonard with nine. Lainee Trosclair and Anslee Aldy scored 17 apiece followed closely by Carly Jo Griffin with 15 points.
