To be named Overall Reserve Champion once at state is great, two do it twice in two separate livestock events is incredible. That is exactly what Grace Christian Academy 4-H member, Gracie Bourgeois, did at the Southern University State Livestock Show this past week. Adding to the remarkable performance was her coming in first place in yet still another category.
Bourgeois earned Overall Reserve Champion status in the Brahman Influence Heifer division as well as Overall Reserve Champion in LA Bred Market Goat. She also exhibited the 1st Place Market Goat Parish Group with her two goats from C&J Show Goats of Jonesboro.
Additional competitors and the livestock event entered from Jackson Parish included:
Lane Diffey (Weston High School) – Market Hog
Roman Strickland (Weston High School) – Market Hog
Reece Johnson (Quitman High School) – Market Swine, Goats, Lambs, Hereford Bull.
Rilynn Johnson (Cornerstone Christian) – Market Swine, Goats, Lambs
The Jackson Parish “Cloverbuds” – those who haven’t made it to the 4th grade yet – also got great experience by showing their projects.
