In only their second year of existence the girls and boys basketball teams at Jonesboro-Hodge Elementary School have made tremendous progress. As a shining example both qualified for the Elementary Championships held in Ruston this past Saturday.  with both winning their first round games before falling in the second round.

Under the tutelage of head coaches Jordan Boston (boys) and Asanti Belton (girls) both the girls and boys won their first round games before falling in the second round. The girls advanced by beating Lincoln Prep 16-2 before losing to Arcadia 17-0 while the boys bested Choudrant 29-21 and then fell to Ruston Elementary 21-18.

“We are very proud of the progress our students have made this season. This time last year, we were not advancing in the Championship Tournament,” said J-HES Principal Danielle Copeland. “Special thank you to Coach Boston, Coach Belton, Coach White, and Coach Bennett as elementary coaching is an unpaid, voluntary position. Thanks to their dedication we were able to participate in 10+ games this season. Last but not least, thank you to our parents/community for all their support this season.”
