Cali Deal took the frustration of losing late to Jena earlier in the week by striking out a season best 18 batters in a 2-0 shutout victory over Class 5A Airline High School. Anna Leach hit a single in the bottom of the fourth inning to score Kinsley Ponder and Hallie Kate Pullig and Cali Deal with all the runs that the Lady Wolverines would need. Madison Chaplin hit a double for the only extra base hit of the game as Quitman improved to 22-4 on the year and solidified their #1 ranking in Division V among “non-select” schools. The victory was the 8th of the year against Class 5A schools and 16th against schools from a higher classification.

Captain Shreve 11 Weston 0: The loss was a third straight game to a school from a higher classification but by falling to Class 5A Captain Shreve, the Lady Wolves actually climbed a few spots in the latest Division V power rankings. Weston (6-18) currently sits at #31 in the rankings needing to get to #26 to qualify for the postseason with three games left to play in the regular season, all against schools from larger classes. Carlynn Waters got the only hit for the Lady Wolves while Ansley Aldy was the hard luck loser, giving up only two earned runs and victim to a season high 9 errors.
