Barbara Ann McCormack
October 25, 1937 – April 3, 2024
Barbara Ann McCormack, 86, passed away on April 3rd, 2024, in Ruston, Louisiana. She was born on October 25, 1937, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina near Charlotte.
Barbara grew up in Matthews, North Carolina and attended school there with her brothers and sisters. She often spoke of those early days and the memories she had from there with her family. As she spread her wings into the world, she eventually lived in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. Over the years, she had marriages to Richard Gunn, Lloyd Hatten, Bobby Ketchum, Sidney Talley, and Billy McCormack, and had children with Richard Gunn and Lloyd Hatten. She was a diligent and hard worker and had various jobs during her life. These included bookkeeping for a clothing manufacturer, managing an optometrist office, and being a teller at a bank (during a robbery). Even though she was not highly educated, she was often the most intelligent person in the room. Her advanced degree was in life itself.
Barbara stayed busy cooking, hunting, vegetable gardening, preserving food, tending to her always beautiful flowers and yard plants, building things like porches and sheds, and many other daily activities. There was nothing she could not do well, and she never faced an obstacle that she could not conquer. She was always there when someone needed help and was often the voice of reason or assurance when life’s troubles arose. She most certainly fully lived her life and touched many lives along the way.
Barbara will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her son, Glen Hatten and wife Debby; granddaughters, Kylie Perioux and husband Luke and Rachel Magee and husband Jesse; sisters, Janice Stringer and Sylvia Meador; brothers, Ranald and Terry Killough; several great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many good friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Steve Killough; her mother, Ruby Stillwell Friddle; her brothers Dean, Barry Jerron (BJ), and Dale; her husband, Billy McCormack; and her sons Michael and Douglas Gunn.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro, Louisiana with Bro. Randy Lee officiating. She was laid to rest at Western Baptist Church Cemetery near Walkerville, Arkansas.
Serving the family as pallbearers was Jesse McGee, Luke Perioux, Chris Shaw, Dustin Smith.

Patricia (Freeman) McElligott, age 73, passed away on March 25, 2024. A private visitation and service was held under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro. A complete obituary will be posted at a later date.
