Prep Baseball: Weston completes district 1B play undefeated

For the first time since the 2014-15 season, Weston High School, ranked second in Division IV among “non-select” schools has completed their district schedule in baseball in undefeated fashion. The Wolves put the finishing touches on their 6-0 district 1B title campaign by blasting Castor 26-2 in three innings. The victory also gave Weston a Division IV best 19 wins on the season. 

tait henderson 1Not only was it a rare occasion celebrated by the team, Tait Henderson also enjoyed a rarity by becoming the first player from Jackson Parish this year to hit for the “cycle”, meaning he hit a single, double, triple and a home run in the same game. He also scored four runs and knocked in four more in what was his career best day.

Overall, the Wolves pounded out 21 hits while scoring 11 runs in the first inning, 12 in the second and 3 in their third and final at bat. Additional contributors include:

Pullig powers Quitman past Doyline

Hudson Pullig gave Quitman a 1-0 lead over Doyline with the first home run of the season for the Wolverines in the 6th inning. Then he gave the Wolverines the win with his second “tater| of the day in the top of the 10th that broke a 1-1 tie in the battle for second place in district 1B. Adding to the “career” day was his 1.2 innings of pitching in relief of Ian Tilley and Riley Duck, where he earned the win by limiting Doyline to just one hit.

The victory improved the Wolverines record to 14-8 and 4-2 in district, while Doyline fell to 12-11 and 2-4. More importantly, Quitman jumped up another spot in the Division IV rankings among “non-select” schools sitting now at #3 in the state, just one spot behind Jackson Parish neighbor Weston.
