This past week three trash receptacles were installed at the Jackson Parish Library (JPL) around the Outdoor Park at the Jonesboro Branch. The receptacles were from the Keep Louisiana Beautiful Grant that the JPL applied for and was awarded by the state.
The installation is part of the JPL’s celebration of “Love the Boot” week where patrons have the opportunity to show your support and community spirit by checking out a clean up kit and doing your part to help keep Louisiana beautiful. Each kit contains a safety vest, litter grabber and a trash bag.
A small supply of t-shirts are available to those that participate while supplies last and a STANLEY CUP will be presented to the person that collects the most trash.
You may show us a picture of the trash on your phone when you return the kit. (You must check out a kit from the library to be eligible to win the cup)
Deadline is Monday, April 29th!
Clean Up Event was a Success

On April 23rd, the Jackson Parish Library hosted Jackson Parish Library Keeps Louisiana Beautiful as part of Love the Boot Week, Louisiana’s largest litter cleanup and beautification effort organized by Keep Louisiana Beautiful April 20-28. The Library Staff took turns going around downtown Jonesboro and Chatham and collected 17 bags of litter in 2 hours.
“We take pride in our community and were honored to be a part of this great event, “said Floyd Knox, Library Director.
“We are thankful to the Louisiana businesses, governments, schools, families, and individuals who participated in Love the Boot Week,” said Susan Russell, Executive Director of Keep Louisiana Beautiful. “This event not only helps to improve communities, but it also brings awareness to our state’s litter problem. Only when we work together and change our behaviors will Louisiana see a reduction in litter.”
In late May, Keep Louisiana Beautiful will release a report summarizing the collective impact of the registered cleanup and beautification events. The report will be available at www.keeplouisianabeautiful.org.
