Ryan Bond steps away from coaching for administration position at Ruston High

Former Weston High standout player and coach, Ryan Bond, who moved on to Ruston High School in 2019, has announced he is stepping down as the Bearcats boy’s basketball coach to become the 9th grade assistant principal.

After leading Weston High School to the 2018 LHSAA Class B state tournament and being voted LSWA Class B coach of the year, Bond took over the Ruston High School boys basketball program. Since the 2019-20 season, the Bearcats have had four straight postseason berths including consecutive trips to the LHSAA state tournament the past two seasons. The Jackson Parish native led RHS to a 102-46 record during his tenure and including his years as head coach at Weston High compiled a 350-152 career mark.

Bond was a 1992 graduate of Weston High School, where he was a four-year letterman in basketball. He was selected All-District three years and All-State two years, averaging 26 points and 14 rebounds a game in his senior year before moving on to play at Louisiana Tech.
