Virtually all his young life, Logan Ponder of Quitman High School has been recognized as a star on the baseball diamond. Now it is official!
When Ponder signed the papers on Wednesday, May 1st, in front of school administration, faculty, student body, family and friends in the QHS gymnasium, he became South Arkansas Community College Star.
“I have a lot of friends who play there” said Ponder when asked why he chose South Ark over others who wanted him at their schools. “I also really like the coach and the program.”
Ponder leads Quitman into the LHSAA Division IV state semi finals this week after compiling a .342 batting average, scoring 26 runs and collecting a team leading 16 steals while also anchoring the Wolverine pitching staff with a 5-2 record and 1.36 ERA.
The son of Larry and Heather Ponder is the third QHS athlete this year to be offered the opportunity to continue their athletic career following Cali Deal signing with LSU and Madison Chaplin inking with Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.
