Ms. LaJulia Blankenship’s first -grade class at Jonesboro-Hodge Elementary celebrated becoming first time authors on May 15, 2024. The students authored the book entitled “Famous Black Americans of Jackson Parish”.

To acknowledge their hard work, a book signing was organized. Amongst the guest present were the following Jackson Parish natives : Mrs. Yumeka Robinson- Washington, Mr. Leslie Thompson, Mr. Stevie Anderson, Dr. Staja Booker, Mr. Harvey Barnes, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl McDonald.

These special guest honored the students by signing their books and giving them advice and guidance as they move forward in the upcoming school year and years to come.

Others featured in the book were: Mrs. Joslyn Penneywell-Trim, Sgt. Ricardo Paggett, Col. Chris Hall, Mr. Taij Richards, Mr. Elliot Blankenship, Mr. James Earl Potts, Mr. Anthony Anderson, Mr. Scotty Anderson, Sgt. Joe Wrightsman, (sister Trina Hoover) and Mr. Marty Booker.
