Peyton Mitchell and Brad Porter won the championship flight of 2024 Piney Woods Shootout played at the Jackson Parish Golf Course on Saturday, July 13th. The pair fired rounds of 30-32-30 for a total of 92, a whopping four strokes better than the second place team of Dwayne “Snook” Harrel and Eli Walker. Coming in third was Brent Pullig and Scott Brown. 

Winners of the first flight was Larry and Ram Foster, who took a scorecard playoff victory over Ethan and Seth Carson after both teams finished the 27 hole, one day, tourney with rounds of 103. One stroke back was third place finisher Seth Mitchell and Tanner Eley.

The third flight saw four teams shoot 108 on the day, with Matt and Bart Lee winning the scorecard playoff and take the first prize. Second place went to Waymond and Shane Laffoon  with Joey Pender and Paul Trosclair coming in third place.

A full field of 27 teams populated the JPGC as the tournament is always a yearly favorite due to the unique format it is played. Over the first nine-holes contestants played “four ball” where each player plays his own ball and the lowest score of the two is taken. The second nine holes was played as a “shamble” where the team uses the best drive and then plays their own ball, with the lowest score shot used. The final nine was in a “scramble” format where team members hit from the best position of each shot.
