Town of Jonesboro Mayor J. “Spike” Harris announced on Tuesday morning that the Water Boil Advisory that had been in place since last Thursday for the customers of the Jonesboro Water System has now been lifted.
“I am pleased to announce that the Boil Advisory has now been lifted and that the water is safe for consumption once again,” said Harris in his Facebook post. “I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding.”
Harris was also quick to congratulate the Town of Jonesboro Water Department for their work over the past several days that not only quickly fixed two breaches in major water transmission lines but also kept the water flowing for users for all but a 30 minute to two hour time frame.
“Thanks to the creativity of our water department we were hardly ever without water,” said Harris. “Normally in a situation like this the water would have had to have been shut off for upward to three days, but through their expertise and trying a new process, water was available even though the several of the tanks were drained.”
